Gaming PC components may be compact, but they are not simple cargo. A few cartons can carry a high commercial value, while a larger order can contain hundreds of combinations of brands, models, memory capacities and performance levels. Graphics cards, CPUs, motherboards, RAM and SSDs also face risks that ordinary general-cargo packing does not fully address.
For an importer or Indonesia freight forwarder, the challenge is to protect the hardware, keep every SKU traceable and confirm the import conditions before the cargo leaves China. A shipment that is booked only by carton count and gross weight can still fail because of electrostatic discharge, bent connectors, moisture, model discrepancies, weak documentation or theft exposure.

Do not describe the whole shipment as simply 'computer accessories.' Different components have different handling risks and may not share the same HS classification or regulatory requirements. The quotation and pre-shipment review should begin with a model-level cargo list.

Electrostatic discharge can damage sensitive electronics even when the outer carton shows no visible impact. The EOS/ESD Association identifies shielding bags, rigid or semi-rigid containers and low-charging materials as direct protection for electrostatic-discharge-sensitive items.
A practical packing sequence is component protection first, shock protection second and transport protection third. GPUs and motherboards should stay in suitable ESD-protective packaging, then in fitted foam or the original protective box, and finally in a strong master carton. CPUs, RAM and SSDs should remain in sealed trays or individual packaging that prevents movement and contact damage.
Repacking should not expose connector pins, gold contacts or circuit boards to uncontrolled handling. If a warehouse inspection requires opening retail boxes, the inspection method, workspace and photo record should be agreed before the cargo arrives.

Modern graphics cards can be long and heavy because of large heat sinks and cooling fans. If the product is able to move inside the box, a drop or sudden stop may stress the circuit board, fan shroud or metal bracket. Motherboards can flex under concentrated pressure, and an unprotected CPU socket can be damaged by a minor packing mistake.
1. Use fitted inner protection: prevent the product from moving without pressing on fans, sockets or connectors.
2. Strengthen master cartons: use suitable double-wall cartons, close voids and avoid carton overhang on pallets.
3. Separate heavy and light products: do not allow PSUs or cooling hardware to crush motherboard or GPU cartons.
4. Prepare LCL cargo for extra handling: palletize or crate vulnerable cartons when the handling route justifies it.
5. Keep containers and warehouses dry: inspect container condition and use suitable desiccants or moisture controls where required.
6. Use compliant wood packaging: solid-wood pallets or crates used in international trade should meet applicable ISPM 15 requirements.

Indonesia's National Single Window provides HS-based tariff and import-control information. The importer or appointed customs broker should verify the exact classification, applicable restrictions and required approvals before shipment. A broad invoice line such as 'PC parts' is not enough for a mixed consignment with different products and values.
The consignee should also confirm that its NIB and import access cover the planned activity. Commercial documents should state the correct product name, brand, model or part number, quantity, unit value and country of origin. The packing list should reconcile with carton marks, net and gross weights, measurements and the final SKU summary.
Wireless functions need an additional check. A motherboard with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, a wireless gaming peripheral or another radio-enabled device may fall within Indonesian telecommunication-device technical standards or certification scope. Plain wired components should not automatically be treated the same as radio-enabled models. Confirm the exact model and current Komdigi requirements before loading.
7. Commercial documents: commercial invoice, packing list and purchase order or sales contract where applicable.
8. Detailed SKU file: product name, brand, model, part number, specification, quantity, unit value and carton allocation.
9. Classification support: catalog, product photos and proposed HS codes for review by the Indonesian importer or broker.
10. Import and technical approvals: documents identified through INSW and any required Komdigi support for radio-enabled products.
11. Origin support: certificate of origin or Form E when the product qualifies and preferential treatment is intended.
12. Brand and authenticity evidence: supplier invoices, distribution or trademark authorization when relevant to the transaction.
13. Transport instructions: final B/L or AWB data, consignee details, marks, weights, measurements and service scope.
Compliance reminder: Import rules are HS- and feature-specific and can change. Verify the latest requirements with the Indonesian importer, customs broker, INSW and the relevant authority before cargo release.
Most standalone GPUs, CPUs, RAM modules and SSDs are not shipped as lithium-battery cargo. However, a mixed gaming shipment may also include rechargeable controllers, wireless headsets, laptops, portable displays, spare batteries or motherboards with installed coin cells. These items must be disclosed instead of being hidden inside a general 'computer accessories' description.
For air freight, confirm the battery chemistry, watt-hour rating or lithium content, packing configuration and applicable UN classification. MSDS and the UN 38.3 test summary may be needed. IATA's 2026 guidance also introduced stricter state-of-charge provisions for lithium-ion batteries packed with equipment. Carrier and airline acceptance must be checked against the actual shipment.
14. Air freight: suitable for urgent, compact and high-value orders, subject to security, battery and airline acceptance checks.
15. LCL sea freight: useful for smaller commercial lots and multi-supplier consolidation, but it creates more handling points and needs stronger outer packing.
16. FCL sea freight: suitable for larger programs, reduces cargo handling and gives better control over loading, sealing and container condition.
The choice should consider cargo value, carton strength, delivery deadline, number of suppliers, battery or radio functions, destination and the cost of a possible claim. For gaming hardware, loss prevention is as important as physical protection. The origin warehouse should reconcile supplier delivery notes with the master purchase and packing lists. Carton count, SKU, model, quantity and visible condition should be recorded before consolidation. For selected high-value items, a serial-number record can support both inventory control and claims handling.
