COMPUTER POWER SUPPLIES & LAPTOP ADAPTERS

From China to Indonesia: Model Management and Safety Compliance

We Know China, We Know SEA.

Why this cargo needs more attention than it appears to:
A single shipment can contain many wattages, connector types, model numbers and suppliers. The logistics risk is usually not the product itself - it is model mix-ups, document mismatch, weak packing and destination-side compliance uncertainty.

Different Models Mean More Room for Mistakes

A computer-accessories shipment may contain ATX desktop power supplies, SFX power supplies, gaming PC power supplies, 65W/90W/120W laptop adapters, USB-C PD chargers and multiple plug or connector specifications.

Even when two cartons look almost identical, the products inside may have different output ratings or compatibility. For multi-supplier cargo, the model number, quantity, carton marking and packing list should be checked before the shipment leaves China.

Model, Wattage and Connector Checks

For power-related computer accessories, the logistics team should verify the key technical identifiers shown on the product or packaging:

· Input voltage and frequency

· Output voltage and current

· Rated wattage

· DC connector / USB-C specification

· AC plug specification

· Brand, part number and model number

A 65W laptop adapter and a 120W gaming laptop adapter may look similar externally but are not interchangeable. The same issue appears with desktop PSUs: 500W, 650W, 750W and 1000W models can be packed in the same shipment. Clear SKU separation makes destination-side receiving and distribution much easier.

A Simple SKU Control Sheet Helps

For larger shipments, a compact SKU list can be used by the supplier, warehouse and destination team to cross-check the cargo.67605b6266c1b64a9e26757898e66aca.png

Safety Compliance: Check the Exact Product Before Shipment

Electrical and electronic equipment can be subject to product-safety standards and market-access requirements in Indonesia. BSN currently lists SNI IEC 62368-1:2014 as a valid Indonesian standard covering safety requirements for audio/video, information and communication technology equipment. The IEC also publishes IEC 62368-1:2023 as the current international edition of the standard.

Important compliance note:
The existence of a safety standard does not mean every computer PSU or laptop adapter follows the same mandatory certification procedure. The Indonesia importer should confirm applicability based on the exact HS Code, product category, technical specification, brand/use case and the regulations in force at the time of import.

Before booking, it is practical to confirm whether the buyer needs test reports, certification records, product labels or other supporting documents. This is especially important for retail or commercial distribution shipments.

Supplier Documents Should Match the Actual Cargo

When goods come from several Chinese suppliers, document consistency becomes another important control point. The commercial invoice, packing list, carton labels and actual models should describe the same cargo.

If an invoice only says “Laptop Adapter” while the shipment contains several wattages and model numbers, a more detailed SKU breakdown can make warehouse checking and destination-side review much easier.

Packaging Protection for Dense Electronics

Computer power supplies are relatively dense products. A carton can become heavy even when the retail boxes inside still need protection from compression, vibration and moisture. Laptop adapters also contain cables and plugs that can be damaged by repeated handling.

· Strong export cartons with suitable bursting strength

· Internal protective packaging and dividers where needed

· Reasonable carton weight control

· Palletization for heavier or larger lots

· Moisture protection and stable stacking

· Clear external model/SKU labels

LCL or FCL?

LCL - for smaller and multi-supplier lots

LCL can work well for sample batches, smaller orders and regular replenishment. Cargo from several suppliers can be collected at one China warehouse, checked and consolidated into one export shipment. Stronger outer packaging is recommended because LCL cargo may be handled multiple times during consolidation and deconsolidation.

FCL - for larger volumes

When the order reaches container volume, FCL normally reduces individual-carton handling because the cargo remains in the same container from origin loading until destination unloading. This can be useful for large quantities of power supplies and other computer accessories.

Multi-Supplier Consolidation in China

Many Indonesia buyers purchase computer accessories from several suppliers: one factory may supply desktop PSUs, another laptop adapters, and a third keyboards, mice or docking stations. Instead of arranging separate exports, the goods can be collected and consolidated in China.

ECBEC China-side workflow
Supplier coordination → pickup → warehouse receiving → carton/SKU checking → consolidation → export handling → international freight

This gives an Indonesia freight forwarder or importer one China-side contact for the shipment while keeping the supplier cargo organized before export.
