28Shipping Industrial Fans and Blowers from China to Indonesia
A practical guide to packaging container planning documents and delivery risk control
An export packed centrifugal blower prepared for international shipment
Industrial fans and blowers are not difficult cargo because of their value alone. The real challenge is controlling dimensions, protecting rotating parts, matching electrical and performance specifications, and keeping every component traceable from the Chinese factory to the Indonesian job site. A logistics plan should therefore begin before the equipment is packed, not after the supplier asks for a booking.
Industrial fans and blowers support ventilation, dust collection, drying, combustion air, pneumatic conveying, wastewater aeration and process cooling. Indonesian factories, power projects, mines, food plants, palm oil facilities, poultry farms and water treatment projects may source this equipment from China because Chinese suppliers offer a broad range of standard and customized models.
For the buyer, the commercial question is not only whether the fan can deliver the required airflow and pressure. The shipment must arrive with the correct motor, base frame, silencers, flexible connectors, control panels and installation accessories. Missing or mixed parts can delay commissioning even when the main machine arrives safely.
Equipment type | Typical characteristics | Main logistics concern |
Axial fan | Large diameter with relatively shallow body | Blade and guard protection plus efficient use of container width |
Centrifugal fan | Volute casing motor and base frame | Irregular dimensions high center of gravity and vibration protection |
Roots blower | Compact heavy unit with motor and accessories | Moisture prevention lifting points and serial number control |
Large project fan | May ship in separate casing impeller motor and duct sections | Packing list accuracy and coordinated delivery sequence |
A dependable quotation needs more than the words industrial fan. Ask the supplier for a final packing list showing the quantity of packages, gross weight, net weight and outside dimensions of every package. For large equipment, drawings or packing photos are useful because the longest, widest and highest points may not be obvious from a product catalogue.
· Cargo ready date and preferred arrival window in Indonesia
· Pickup address and agreed Incoterm such as EXW FCA or FOB
· Exact package dimensions and gross weight after export packing
· Whether the equipment can be stacked and whether any surface must remain upright
· Motor voltage frequency and nameplate details for the destination project
· Complete accessory list including loose parts and control cabinets
· Presence of batteries oil chemicals magnets or other items that may require additional review
Large centrifugal fan housings require verified lifting points and a loading plan before pickup
A fan housing may look robust, but the impeller, shaft, bearings, coupling and motor can be damaged by impact, vibration, salt moisture or incorrect lifting. Export packing should immobilize the equipment on a strong base and prevent contact between sensitive components and the crate. Openings should be sealed to keep out water, dust and foreign objects.
· Use a heat treated or compliant engineered wood package suitable for international transport.
· Bolt the machine or skid to the base instead of relying only on plastic film or straps.
· Protect inlet and outlet flanges with rigid covers and mark them clearly.
· Add waterproof wrapping desiccant and barrier protection for sea transport where appropriate.
· Block or secure rotating parts according to the manufacturer instructions.
· Mark gross weight center of gravity lifting points package number and destination.
· Pack loose accessories separately but cross reference them to the main machine and purchase order.
For oversized fans shipped partly disassembled, the packing list should identify the casing, impeller, motor, base, guards and hardware as separate packages. Installation teams need to know which package must be opened first and which fasteners belong to each assembly.

Less than container load can work for one or several compact blowers, especially when the packages are fully enclosed, forkliftable and not excessively heavy. However, LCL cargo is handled more often during consolidation and deconsolidation. Strong packaging and clear non stacking instructions are essential. The buyer should also compare destination handling charges, not only the ocean freight.
A full container is usually preferable for multiple units, mixed accessories or project cargo that needs better control over loading and unloading. A 40 foot high cube may provide useful volume, but its door opening and internal width still limit what can be loaded. The largest package must be checked against the actual container dimensions and loading method.
When a fan casing cannot pass through a standard container door, an open top or flat rack may be required. The quotation then depends on the cargo dimensions, weight, lifting points, over height or over width, lashing plan and carrier approval. Special equipment space should be requested early because availability can be limited, especially before Chinese holidays or peak shipping periods.
Axial ventilation fans secured inside a container with protective wrapping and bracing
The loading plan should distribute weight safely and leave access for securing. Heavy skids need suitable timber blocking, anti slip material and lashing selected for the cargo weight and expected transport forces. Straps should not press against blades, guards, electrical boxes or thin sheet metal. If a forklift is used, fork pockets and the center of gravity must be visible.
Before the container is sealed, take photos of the empty container, container condition, each loading stage, blocking and lashing, final door area and seal number. These records help the buyer confirm package count and provide useful evidence if damage or shortage is reported later.
The importer and customs broker should confirm the product classification and import requirements before shipment. The precise HS code depends on the equipment design and function, so it should be reviewed against the technical specification rather than selected from a generic product name.
· Commercial invoice with consistent product descriptions models quantities and values
· Packing list with package numbers dimensions gross and net weights
· Bill of lading instructions including the Indonesian consignee details and required tax information
· HS code information agreed with the importer and customs broker
· Certificate of origin when requested and applicable
· Wood packaging compliance markings where solid wood is used
· Technical catalogue nameplate photos and supporting product documents for classification review
For Jakarta shipments, complete consignee information and sufficiently detailed HS information should be confirmed before the bill of lading is issued. Late amendments can create cost and delay. The consignee should also confirm that it has the appropriate import authorization for the equipment.

Risk | Practical control |
Final package is larger than the early quotation | Reconfirm dimensions after export packing and before booking or truck dispatch. |
Motor or accessories are mixed between projects | Use package numbers serial numbers and a photo based loading checklist. |
Moisture or corrosion appears after sea transport | Use sealed openings barrier protection desiccant and suitable export packing. |
Equipment shifts inside the container | Prepare blocking and lashing for the actual weight and center of gravity. |
Customs queries the product description or HS code | Align invoice packing list catalogue and importer classification before departure. |
Special equipment is unavailable near cargo ready date | Submit drawings and request carrier approval as early as possible. |
ECBEC Limited coordinates China side logistics for industrial equipment shipments from supplier pickup through export handling and ocean transport. For fan and blower projects, our work can include checking cargo data, comparing routing options, arranging trucking and warehouse handling, coordinating container loading, preparing export documentation and following the shipment to Indonesia.
When several Chinese suppliers are involved, we can also help consolidate the cargo and organize the China side export process. The objective is to give the Indonesian forwarding partner or importer one clear operating point in China while they continue managing their customer relationship at destination.
We Know China, We Know SEA.
The best time to review an industrial fan shipment is when the supplier can still adjust the packing design, package separation and markings. Once the crates are closed and the truck is waiting, changing the plan becomes expensive. Send the final packing list, cargo ready date, pickup address, destination port and preferred arrival time early so the correct container and sailing options can be evaluated.
