Shipping Out of Gauge Machinery from China to Indonesia

A loading plan that works before the machine leaves the factory

The factory says its machine is suitable for a 40 foot open top container. Then the export skid, weather protection and securing points are added. The final width no longer fits the roof opening, and the original equipment choice cannot be used. For an out of gauge shipment, that discovery should happen during planning, not when a crane and truck are waiting at the factory. ECBEC can coordinate the machine data, loading method and carrier approval before dispatch.

Measure the shipment, not just the machine

Start with the final transport drawing: overall length, width and height after skids, covers, protruding parts and securing materials; gross weight; support footprint; center of gravity; lifting and lashing points; and whether any component can be removed safely. Ask for photos from all sides and a lifting drawing or manufacturer instructions. A bare equipment dimension is insufficient for an OOG booking. We can reconcile the drawing with the factory’s packing plan and send one consistent set of particulars to the carrier and the loading team.

Choose OT, FR or another method from the loading path

An open top may suit a machine that can be lowered through its roof opening and secured within the equipment limits. A flat rack may be needed when width, height or side access makes an open top impractical. Check the actual equipment dimensions, payload, floor or rail support and the approved overhang with the chosen carrier; the name “40 foot” does not make different lines’ equipment identical. If neither special container is workable, consider an approved breakbulk or other project cargo plan. ECBEC can compare those options before quoting, including factory lift, inland move, terminal handling, ocean freight and destination discharge.

Turn the lift into a written sequence

The machine supplier should identify approved lifting points and the center of gravity. The appointed rigging team then plans the crane capacity, spreader or slings, lift path and landing supports for the actual configuration. At the loading site, confirm space for the crane and truck, ground conditions and any restrictions on access. A low, wide machine may be slid or rolled onto suitable equipment if an engineered method permits it; another unit may require a top lift. Photograph the machine and support arrangement before, during and after loading. If the lift arrangement changes, pause and revise the plan rather than improvising around an unverified attachment point.

Secure the real footprint and protect exposed parts

For a flat rack, distribute the load onto its load-bearing structure with suitable timber or steel supports, and keep the center of gravity within the carrier’s accepted arrangement. Use rated lashing points and a securing plan designed to resist sliding and tipping in both directions. Protect sharp edges, vulnerable controls and hydraulic lines. A tarpaulin can protect exposed machinery from weather when approved, but it does not replace structural securing. Ask the carrier or its surveyor to review the final stowage and lashing evidence when required, and record the completed dimensions because dunnage and lashings can add overhang.

Resolve rejection risks before gate in

A special cargo booking normally needs accurate drawings, weights, photos, overheight or overwidth measurements, equipment orientation and a proposed securing method. Terminal and vessel acceptance can depend on those details. ECBEC can collect the factory’s documents, coordinate the loading contractor and submit the same final configuration for carrier approval. We can also check inland route and destination unloading constraints with the relevant parties. If a late measurement changes the accepted envelope, the buyer gets a revised equipment or sailing option before the cargo is moved.

What ECBEC needs to start

Send the machine model, final packed dimensions and gross weight, center of gravity and lifting drawing, cargo photos, factory address, ready date and Indonesian destination. With the real configuration, we can review the OT, FR or alternative route, arrange China-side handling and prepare a shipment-specific quotation.
