PROJECT FOCUS

Protect bulky insulated panels, safeguard sensitive refrigeration machinery and consolidate multiple Chinese suppliers into one controlled export plan.

Cold storage facilities support food processing, seafood distribution, supermarkets, pharmaceutical storage, hotels, restaurants and other temperature-controlled industries. Many Indonesian companies source insulated panels, condensing units, evaporators and refrigeration accessories from manufacturers in China.

Transporting a complete cold room system is more complex than moving ordinary machinery. Insulated panels are lightweight but consume substantial container space, while compressors, condensers and control systems contain sensitive components that require careful handling. A coordinated logistics plan helps control cost, reduce handling risk and keep project components together.

What a Cold Room Shipment May Include

A complete project can involve cargo from several manufacturers. Typical items include:

· PU or PIR insulated sandwich panels for walls, floors and ceilings

· Cold room doors, frames, seals and cam-lock accessories

· Condensing units, compressors and air-cooled condensers

· Evaporators, air coolers and fan assemblies

· Refrigeration control panels, sensors and monitoring systems

· Copper pipes, valves, fittings, cables, lighting and installation accessories

· Shelving, racks and ancillary storage equipment

Because these items vary widely in size, weight and handling sensitivity, they should be reviewed as one project rather than booked as unrelated packages.

The Four Main Logistics Challenges

1. Lightweight Panels Can Fill a Container Quickly

Insulated panels may have a low weight-to-volume ratio, but their length and surface area can quickly consume the usable space in a container. The panel length, width, thickness, quantity and packing method should be checked before equipment selection. For many full projects, a 40'HQ provides better cubic capacity, but the final choice must be based on the actual packing list and the container door opening.

2. Panel Surfaces and Edges Need Protection

Coated steel surfaces, insulation cores and locking edges can be damaged by rough forklift handling, concentrated pressure or contact with heavy equipment. Protection should be matched to the panel design and transport route.

· Keep protective film on finished surfaces until installation.

· Use foam, cardboard or rigid corner protectors on exposed edges.

· Place stable wooden supports under long panel bundles.

· Use straps with padding so tension does not crush panel edges.

· Keep panels flat and evenly supported during storage and loading.

· Separate panel bundles from machinery, sharp fittings and loose accessories.

· Add waterproof covering when cargo may be handled outdoors.

3. Refrigeration Machinery Requires Shock and Moisture Control

Compressors, evaporators, condensers and controllers contain mechanical, electrical and pressure-related components. Vibration, impact, moisture or incorrect orientation can cause damage that may not be visible until installation.

· Reinforced wooden cases or strong export pallets

· Shock-absorbing pads and secure frame anchoring

· Moisture-resistant wrapping and desiccants

· Anti-rust protection for exposed metal and piping

· Clear lifting points, center-of-gravity and orientation labels

· Separate securing points so heavy units cannot shift toward panel stacks

4. Multiple Suppliers Must Be Synchronized

Cold room projects often involve one supplier for panels, another for refrigeration machinery and several more for doors, copper parts, controls and accessories. If every order is shipped separately, domestic pickup, export documentation and destination handling costs can multiply. More importantly, one missing component may delay installation of the entire system.

Multi-Supplier Consolidation in China

ECBEC can coordinate cargo from different suppliers and receive it at a China consolidation warehouse before export. A controlled consolidation process may include:

1. Contact each supplier and confirm cargo-ready dates.

2. Arrange domestic pickup or receive supplier-delivered cargo.

3. Check package count, visible condition, dimensions and gross weight.

4. Take warehouse photos and flag weak or damaged packaging.

5. Repack or reinforce selected items when required.

6. Prepare a combined loading plan and loading sequence.

7. Coordinate export documentation and container loading.

OPERATIONAL BENEFIT

One consolidated view of the project reduces duplicated handling and gives the buyer or Indonesia freight forwarder better visibility before the cargo leaves China.

Container Selection and Loading Planning

Loading must balance volume utilization with cargo protection. Long panels should be checked against internal container dimensions and the door opening before booking. Heavy units should sit on load-bearing supports, while panel bundles must remain isolated from pressure points.

A practical loading sequence also considers weight distribution, forklift access, unloading order, wooden supports, lashings and package identification. Oversized panels that cannot enter a standard container safely require a special-equipment review before booking.

Refrigerants and Dangerous Goods Checks

Some refrigeration systems may contain refrigerant gas, compressor oil, pressurized components or other regulated materials. Classification depends on the refrigerant, quantity, packaging and condition of the equipment. The shipper may need to provide:

· Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)

· Refrigerant name, model, quantity and net weight

· UN number and hazard classification, when applicable

· Packaging details and equipment condition

· Dangerous goods transport documents or carrier-requested certificates

When equipment is supplied without refrigerant, the manufacturer should confirm this clearly in writing. Accurate information allows the freight forwarder and carrier to determine whether the shipment can move as general cargo or must follow dangerous goods procedures.

Shipping from China to Indonesia

ECBEC supports factory pickup and exports through major Chinese gateways, including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Tianjin and Xiamen. Other industrial cities can be connected through domestic trucking.

· FCL sea freight for complete cold room projects

· LCL sea freight for smaller components and spare parts

· Air freight for urgent replacement parts or control equipment

· Multi-supplier consolidation and warehouse receiving

· Factory pickup and China domestic trucking

· China export customs support

· Special-equipment review for oversized cargo

· Door-to-door coordination through destination partners

For complete cold room projects, FCL is usually the preferred starting point because it reduces handling and allows the cargo to follow a dedicated loading plan. The correct solution still depends on cargo volume, dimensions, readiness dates, destination and urgency.

Information Needed for a Reliable Quotation

Please provide the following information so the cargo can be reviewed before booking:

· Pickup address or supplier city for each supplier

· Destination port or delivery address in Indonesia

· Commodity description and detailed packing list

· Package quantity, gross weight and dimensions

· Panel length, width, thickness and bundle configuration

· Cargo and packing photos

· Refrigerant details, MSDS and certificates, if applicable

· Expected cargo-ready date and preferred shipping schedule

· Required Incoterm, such as EXW, FOB, CFR or CIF

Why Work with ECBEC Limited?

Cold room logistics requires coordination between suppliers, warehouses, truckers, customs teams and shipping lines. A measurement error, weak package or poor loading sequence can create additional cost and project delays.

· China-wide supplier coordination

· Multi-supplier cargo consolidation

· Container loading calculations and equipment review

· Packaging checks and loading supervision

· Warehouse photo updates

· Flexible ocean and air freight solutions

· Dangerous goods document checks
