39Shipping Industrial Valves from China to Indonesia
A practical guide to packing container planning documentation and delivery control

Industrial valves are compact in appearance but demanding in transport. A shipment can combine dense cast metal bodies, delicate sealing faces, actuators, flanges, spare parts and several model numbers. The safest plan is to confirm specifications early, protect every machined surface, distribute weight correctly and align the shipping documents with the importer before the cargo leaves China.
This guide explains the practical steps for moving gate valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, check valves, control valves and related fittings from Chinese factories to Indonesian ports. It focuses on the points that most often affect cost, clearance and cargo condition.
The main logistics risk is rarely the ocean voyage alone. Damage usually starts with poor support inside the case, exposed flange faces, unsuitable lifting points, mixed model labels or a weight distribution plan prepared too late. Large valves may create a concentrated floor load, while smaller brass or stainless steel valves can become difficult to identify when many sizes share one shipment.

A reliable freight quotation depends on more than the total volume. Send the following information before the forwarder checks ocean freight, pickup and container type:
· Pickup address and trade term such as EXW FOB CFR or CIF
· Port of loading and Indonesian destination port
· Valve type material size pressure rating and intended use
· Number of packages with dimensions gross weight and net weight for each package
· Cargo ready date and preferred delivery window
· Packing method including solid wood plywood pallets steel frames or cartons
· Whether the shipment includes actuators batteries lubricating oil magnets or other regulated components
· Importer details and any permits or product specific requirements confirmed by the consignee
For project cargo, add lifting drawings, center of gravity information and photos of the packed units. The carrier or terminal may request these details when a package is unusually heavy or oversized.

Packing should restrain the valve body without placing harmful pressure on the handwheel, stem, actuator or flange edge. The base must carry the weight, while blocks and straps prevent movement in every direction. Any lifting mark should correspond to a structurally safe point on the packed unit.
· Fit flange protectors or rigid covers over machined faces and openings
· Apply suitable anti rust protection and seal moisture sensitive parts
· Use desiccant and barrier film for long transit or humid storage conditions
· Secure loose handles actuators bolts and spare parts in identified compartments
· Mark gross weight dimensions center of gravity lifting points and case number
· Photograph the cargo before closing the case and after the case is sealed
Raw wood pallets, crates and dunnage used in international trade should comply with ISPM 15 treatment and marking requirements. Processed wood such as plywood is outside the standard when it is manufactured in a way that removes pest risk. The exact packing choice should still be confirmed with the destination agent and importer.

A 20 foot general purpose container is often efficient for dense valve cargo because the payload can be reached before the available cubic capacity is used. A 40 foot or 40 foot high cube container may suit lighter mixed cargo, tall actuator assemblies or shipments that need more floor area. Final selection must be based on package dimensions, total weight, individual case weight and the carrier equipment limits.

If a valve or skid exceeds standard container dimensions, an open top, flat rack or breakbulk option may be needed. Provide drawings and photos early because special equipment acceptance, lifting arrangements and securing approval can take longer than a standard dry container booking.

Before stuffing, inspect the container for holes, water marks, damaged flooring, strong odor and defective doors. Record the empty container condition, seal number and each stage of loading. Forklift capacity must match the case weight at the required load center. For heavy cases, use approved lifting equipment and a loading supervisor who can stop the operation if the planned support or lashing cannot be installed safely.
After loading, retain photos that show the cargo position, blocking, lashing and closed doors. These records help the shipper, forwarder and consignee verify what was loaded and provide evidence if damage is discovered later.
The importer and customs broker should check the product classification and import requirements before departure. Industrial valves generally fall within HS heading 8481, but the correct subheading depends on the valve type and application. Do not select a code only from the product name. Confirm it against technical specifications and the Indonesian import plan.
Indonesia Customs lists supporting documents for an import declaration such as the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, product identification documents and documents showing compliance with applicable import requirements. Depending on the product and transaction, the file may also include a certificate of origin, insurance evidence, catalogues, permits or other supporting records.
· Use the same shipper consignee notify party product description quantity and package count across all documents
· Show accurate gross weight net weight dimensions marks and case numbers on the packing list
· Match technical descriptions to the selected HS classification and importer permits
· Confirm bill of lading draft details with the consignee before the carrier deadline
· Keep factory inspection packing and loading records in the shipment file
Customs, licensing and product standards can change. The Indonesian importer or its licensed customs broker should make the final regulatory check before booking and again before departure.

ECBEC coordinates supplier pickup, export documentation, container planning, loading supervision and ocean or air freight from major Chinese manufacturing regions. For multi supplier projects, we can consolidate valve bodies, actuators, fittings and spare parts into one controlled shipment when the cargo specifications and packing schedules allow it.
Send us the pickup address, packing list, cargo ready date and destination port. We will check the practical shipping options and highlight any information that must be confirmed before booking. We Know China We Know SEA.
